Care of silk

If possible, wash silk by hand in lukewarm or cold water - this is the safest way to help maintain the longevity of silk. If you wash in a washing machine, choose the Silk program. Choose a water temperature no higher than 30 degrees. Refrain from rubbing the stains as this may damage the fabric. Not every detergent or stain remover is suitable for silk, look for the manufacturer's confirmation that the detergent is indeed suitable for silk fibers. The composition of conventional detergents is too aggressive. Do not mix different colors in one washing sink or bowl - silk tends to separate its color in water, you can easily stain other laundry. Don't worry if the water is discolored - this is normal.

After washing, it is recommended to rinse the silk with water with a few drops of vinegar. Vinegar helps to remove chemicals that may remain after the detergent, and also restores the natural luster of the silk fabric. Do not wring a silk product after washing it, as strong wringing can also damage this fabric. Remove excess water with a towel and leave to dry on a hanger. Do not dry silk in direct sunlight. When ironing, turn the silk inside out - this way you will protect the shine. Set the temperature of the iron to the minimum and carefully increase it while observing the condition of the silk. It is advisable to iron while the fabric is still wet. A steamer is the safest and most reliable tool for caring for delicate fabrics. You will effectively remove unwanted wrinkles. When ironing silk with a steamer, do not touch the fabric - keep a safe distance. Electrification will be reduced or completely eliminated if the skin of your body is moistened. Another effective tool is a metal hanger, pass it over an electrified silk cloth.

Hair accessories cannot be washed in a washing machine, hair bands can only be washed by hand with natural detergents or soap.

Keep hair accessories away from other jewelry or accessories that could snag the fabric.
